Cosmetic surgeons can use multiple types of fillers to repair the various symptoms associated with facial aging. While aging is something we all do, but don’t necessarily want, filler injections provide patients a means to combat the clock and revive their once youthful look by alleviating wrinkles, folds and lines.
It seems that each time a new filler is approved by the Food and Drug Administration, it is hyped as the “best and longest lasting” product on today’s market. That motto, of course, only lasts until a new filler is produced.
In reality, they are all good for specific uses. By first assessing your needs, we can help you choose the best filler injection to meet your body and desired results.
The procedure
Patients are first treated with an anesthetic cream before the chosen filler is injected by needles to plump up tissue. Injected into the lips, wrinkles or nasolabial folds, the filler creates smoother, younger looking skin. The lips generally swell somewhat, but most patients are able to return to work the next day.
Dr. Gonzalez recommends having the patient return in two weeks to check the results and make sure everything is symmetric. Occasionally a touch up may be performed at the follow-up appointment. We only use Food and Drug Administration approved injectable fillers like: ArteFill®, CosmoDerm®, CosmoPlast®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, Sculptra®, and Juvéderm™.
The benefits
The benefits can be seen almost overnight as wrinkles and folds are transformed. Self-esteem issues that often piggyback aging are squelched as patients see their younger self looking back at them in the mirror once again. Returning to youthful facial features helps people feel more comfortable with themselves and the world around them.
