Chin implants
Prominent cheeks and chins provide the balance and definition that creates beauty in the human face. Modern technology has recently facilitated all people to achieve this aesthetic trademark, through malar augmentation, or cheek and chin implants. The procedure provides the patient with not only a vibrant and attractive look of distinction but also corrects asymmetries as well as congenital defects.
Chin implants are often recommended to patients undergoing nose surgery, to balance the facial features, and in patients between 38 and 50 years old, they improve the mid-facial contour, postponing sagging in the soft tissues.
The implants are made from non-toxic, hypo-allergenic materials such as silicone, porous polyethylene, and expanded polytetraflouroethylene (ePTFE). The procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis. The implants are inserted through the natural crease lines or inside the mouth. The incisions are closed with tiny sutures. Cold compresses should alleviate recovery during the first 24 hours, and chewing and brushing teeth may cause a slight discomfort for about a week.
